New titles from Demon Records brings back classic adventure to vinyl.

Demon Records have added two more titles to their superb range of science fiction vinyl releases, and these are even more special than what has come before!

The first is Blakes 7 - The Radio Adventures. From 1977 to 1981, a heroic band of freedom fighters waged war against the merciless Terran Federation, spearheaded by Supreme Commander Servalan. In the mid-1990s Terry Nation’s intergalactic epic switched from BBC TV to radio with two new adventures, The Sevenfold Crown and The Syndeton Experiment. Both now come to vinyl for the first time on 21st October, alongside cast interviews and extracts from Zen and the Art of Blake’s 7.

Presented across 3 x 140g vinyl discs in three colours, these full-cast dramas star Paul Darrow as Avon with Jacqueline Pearce as Servalan, Michael Keating as Vila, Steven Pacey as Tarrant, Paula Wilcox as Soolin, Angela Bruce as Dayna, and Peter Tuddenham as Orac and Slave. Written by Barry Letts (Doctor Who) they feature incidental music by Jeff Mearns as well as the familiar strains of Dudley Simpson’s iconic theme music. The removable slipcase cover reveals a trio of coloured LPs - plus a frameable art print - in a widespine sleeve. The discs are presented in individual sleeves which, when place side by side, reveal a landscape scene of Scorpio in flight. Full cast and credits are accompanied by graphics illustrating the tech of Blake’s 7.

The next release you need to look out for is Doctor Who - The Celestial Toymaker. Demon Records will release the narrated TV soundtrack of this ‘lost’ Doctor Who TV serial, starring William Hartnell as the Doctor on 30th September.

When the TARDIS lands in the Celestial Toyroom , its occupants meet a new and deadly opponent. The Toymaker rules this ethereal kingdom, and he desires the Doctor, Steven and Dodo to become his perpetual playthings. While Steven and Dodo face a series of challenges posed by clowns, ballerinas and living playing cards, the Doctor is challenged to play the fiendish Trilogic Game against the Toymaker himself. His only hope of escape is to beat the powerful entity at his own game…

Presented across 2 x 140g ‘King & Queen’ red & blue coloured vinyl discs, this 1966 TV adventure is narrated by Peter Purves, who also plays Steven. It stars Michael Gough as the Toymaker, with Jackie Lane as Dodo and a supporting cast including Carmen Silvera , Campbell Singer and Peter Stephens. Incidental music is composed by Dudley Simpson, and the familiar strains of the Doctor Who theme are courtesy of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. The LPs are presented in a fully illustrated gatefold sleeve showing cast and credits, and inner bags featuring complete episode billings.
