The Forger - American art-heist thriller drama on W4free

The Forger is a 2014 American crime/thriller/drama film directed by Phillip Martin and starring John Travolta, Christopher Plumer, and Tye Sheridan. 

John Travolta plays Raymond Cutter, a Boston-based thief and art forger who with 10 months left to his prison sentence makes a deal with Keegan (Anson Mount) to get him an early release. Of course, Kragen who actually is the one that put Raymond in prison in the first place is not doing this out of the goodness of his heart. He wants to use Raymond and his particular set of skills in order to pull off one last job. He forces Raymond to first paint a forgery of Monet?s ?The Promenade, Woman with a Parasol? and then break into a local museum to steal the original painting which he will then replace with the fake one so no one would suspect a thing.

Now, why would Raymond accept this offer knowing he has only 10 months left on his sentence? The only true answer is his teenage son, who is diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. Of course, he would want to spend as much time as possible with him, and that?s why he ends up accepting Kragen?s offer. 

His son, Will Cutter played by Tye Sheridan ask his father to grant him three last wishes. The first two are actually easy in theory - he wants to meet his biological mother Kim played by Jennifer Ehle, a messed-up junkie who bailed as soon as he was born. For the second wish, Raymond arranges for his son to lose his virginity. However, the third wish is the hardest, because Will wants to be a part of the heist his father needs to pull off. 

As Raymond tries to bond with his son, two police detectives Agent Paisley (played by Abigail Spencer) and Detective Devlin (played by Travis Aaron Wade) trail him, hoping he will lead them to Keegan and his associate, a Latin American drug kingpin to whom Keegan wants to sell the stolen Monet?s. 

Although the movie centers the heist as the main storyline, this is a movie about a desperate father who wants to spend time with his son, and everything he has to do in order to make that possible. And please let?s not forget Christopher Plummer?s performance as Ray?s dad and Will?s grandfather.
