A year at the 'Joffrey Ballet Chicago' between rehearsals and stage, drudgery and triumph: The promising young ballerina Loretta 'Ry' Ryan (Neve Campbell), the experienced dancer Harriet (Barbara E. Robertson), the elite chef Josh (James Franco) and Alberto Antonelli (Malcolm McDowell), artistic director of the ballet company, experience groundbreaking successes, but also bitter defeats. For the young ballet dancers, their private lives completely take a back seat. There is only one true goal: to become part of the company.
